DANS TEST PAGE

Before reading too far, I created a new category called Landing Pages and associated that with the Category blog instead. I thought, yay! I can tell them when they create a new article to assign it to this category to save time having to create a SEO menu item, however pretty much every landing page article they create gets modules assigned to them. Every topic has a site-wide module or two. Example, every page written about Tv wall mounting will have the (Site wide) Wall Mounting module assigned to it, so with that in mind, should they just continue to do what they’ve always done. 1. Create Article. 2. Create SEO menu item (adds to site map) 3. Associate modules with that page?
OK - In this case it may be best to remove the category blog. I wanted to show a way in which the articles should be added but it does make sense to continue as it currently is for the modules. I have left as is, but feel free to disable the category blog menu item.  More of a detailed explanation below.

  • Is there an issue with what they do at the moment? Each page adds to the sitemap when creating a SEO menu link to it. The issue is that the amount of menu items is causing the website to lag and the site is overusing it's available resources. Joomla websites should be light and easy to manage but the number of menu items isn't allowing for this. They can continue adding the menu items are they are, but I would be mindful that this still will effect the speed and user experience.
On this note, I would be mindful that as the sitemap does take a long time for it to load, this can have a negative impact on SEO as Google's search engine crawler may time out and then not be able to read the sitemap.

Talking to our in-house expert, they have suggested that 17k of pages may not have the SEO impact that is desired for the website. They have suggested that it would be more valuable in spending time updating the current pages with unique content instead of adding new articles and modules. You could discuss this with your SEO guys for more information.
