What is AirTasker and should I use them?
AirTasker is a Sydney based Online Platform to hire people to do jobs for you. These jobs might be online, such as Graphic Design for your business or, in this case in person, such as a Cleaning Job or Flat Pack Assembly. Essentially you will be hiring someone who has signed up to their Platform to earn extra money. They do not have to have a Professional Business and in a lot of cases they will have no qualifications. All that said, they are certainly cheap.
Gold Coast AirTasker is a cheap option, but, if inexpensive is what you want, by all means feel free to hire them. On top of the proposed fee that you pay, AirTasker will add on a percentage for themselves and also, they charge the "Tasker" a percentage also. Therefore, what that person receives is less than what you pay, sometimes, almost 20% to 30%. I can't try and compete with their prices, nor do I want too as I want to present a professional business for my customers and this does come at a cost.
In our experience, some of the Taskers, simply do not have the experience and customer will call us out of desperation once they have spent hours upon hours attempting a complex Flat Pack and in some cases, damaged parts due to inexperience. The next most common comment we here relates top lack of communication with the Tasker and simply not showing up or completing the Task at hand. I have hired someone from AirTasker for Rubbish dumps runs for myself personally and yes, the person did arrive, but he had bare feet and a singlet. Totally his choice, but it did give me the wrong impression.
I am only relating my experience here and some of them are probably great, but please be aware that there can be a down side. The old adage of buyer beware and you get what you pay for really do ring true with the Taskers using this platform.
